Mohamed Salah praised the “special” atmoshere as the Liverpool winger admitted it could be his last game against Manchester City at Anfield. The Egyptian scored the second goal from the penalty spot after Cody Gakpo’s opener to seal a 2-0 victory for Arne Slot’s side.

The win puts the Reds 11 points clear of their rivals and nine ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table and Salah says he’s enjoying every moment of what could be his last season playing for the club.

Salah is out of contract in the summer and last week revealed that Liverpool are yet to offer him a new deal, with talks ongoing and described as positive with his representative, Ramy Abbas, but with no agreement reached as things stand.

And with 11 goals and seven assists already this season, Salah is showing no signs of slowing down as he spearheads Liverpool’s title challenge.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, he said: “It’s crazy that the fans were behind us from the first minute. I’m glad we managed to win the game. We know City are going to come and try to win here, but we managed to play a good game and win.

“It’s (Anfield) very special. I don’t take it for granted. I enjoy every minute here. It’s like home. It’s a special feeling scoring at Anfield and winning games like this.

“That’s what’s in my head. Until now it’s the last City game I play for Liverpool (at Anfield), so I’m just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible, I’m enjoying every second. We just win the league and see what happens.”

Salah assisted Gakpo’s opener with a superb low pass across the six yard box and he explained how it was something he and his team-mates had drilled in training.

He added: “We train where to be if I have the ball on the other side, the other forward has to be at the back post. If the chance for me to play the ball to you I will play it.

“I’ve managed it as few times and for Lucho (Diaz) as well. We do it in training and we managed to do it in a game so it’s great.”
