ITV’s Loose Women halted as presenter issues emotional update on Myleene Klass

Loose Women host Christine Lampard halted the ITV show today (January 8) to make a very special announcement about one of her co-stars. While introducing the show, she shared that Myleene Klass had been selected in the New Years Honours list to receive an MBE.

Stopping the show, Christine exclaimed: “First, Myleene, congratulations on your MBE!” The audience whooped and cheered as the panel, which included Coleen Nolan and Linda Robson, erupted into applause.

Myleene picked up her Loose Women mug which showed her name, followed by ‘MBE’ as she grinned widely. She admitted: “I’m blown away. It does feel really special actually.”

Becoming more sombre, she explained: “It’s for my services to miscarriage. So it feels really important but because it is that subject matter all that work sometimes feels really sad and really heavy.”

The former singer went on to explain that the award means she can show her children that “there is light” and that she can use it for good.

Sharing how the award works, Myleene continued: “The King has to sign it off. The Prime Minister has to sign it off… So it’s [her work for miscarriage awareness] getting in front of the right people already.

“It makes me so determined because all the plans that I’ve got for where miscarriage care should be going, it’s something that so many people just put up with and say ‘it’s just one of those things’.

“But it’s not one of those things. We can do so much about it.”

She added that the work she is doing includes data collection and more education for both girls and boys on how they can look after their own fertility.

Myleene continued: “There’s so much that can be done and this just shows you now that all the right people are paying attention.”

Her voice wobbled and she became somewhat tearful as she added: “So now that I’ve got their ear, if you like, this is the beginning. This isn’t the end.”

The former Hear’Say singer, who is mother to daughters Ava and Hero and son Apollo, has suffered four miscarriages and spoken openly about the psychological effects of baby loss on women.

Speaking about receiving the accolade, Myleene said: “When I think back to how all of this started, it all came from a very dark place, and I certainly didn’t have it in mind to become a campaigner at the time.

“Anyone that’s suffered the pain of baby loss or miscarriage, you just go into survival mode and then to have recurring miscarriages again, the only way you can see forward is just, you know, one breath at a time, one day at a time.”
