EXCLUSIVE: Jason Bell, who took part in the 18th season of Strictly Come Dancing, has shared his thoughts on the prospect of going on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
Jason and Luba danced together back in 2020
Jason Bell, who graced the dance floor in BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing back in 2020 with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk, has opened up about his potential participation in ITV show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in an exclusive chat with Reach.
The sports pundit and ex-NFL player has previously tested his knowledge in a special celebrity edition of ITV’s The Chase after his stint on Strictly’s 18th season, but hasn’t ventured much into reality TV since then.
In a broader interview about his collaboration with Samsung for their American Football Jargon Buster launch, aimed at helping British fans grasp the game better ahead of the forthcoming season, Jason shared his thoughts on his I’m A Celeb future.
This follows his former partner, Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle, braving the jungle in 2019 and securing a commendable fifth place.
Nadine, who shares a daughter with Jason, was well-liked during her season, which ultimately saw EastEnders’ Jacqueline Jossa take the Queen of the Jungle title.
Strictly is celebrating 20 years
While Jason acknowledged he thoroughly enjoyed his time on Strictly, he confessed he isn’t as enthusiastic about the idea of featuring on I’m A Celeb.
When questioned if he has any plans to venture into the jungle, he confirmed: “No, you know I wouldn’t. I don’t think I’d do anything else.
“I feel like you got one [reality show]. And my daughter’s mother did another one, too. So I think we’re maxed out in our household. That’s enough stress on a 10-year-old!”
When questioned about his potential appearance on Celebrity MasterChef, he humorously responded: “No, I can’t really cook well, but I’m good at eating food!”
I’m A Celeb is returning soon
Elsewhere in the interview, Jason excitedly spoke about his new, helpful guide to help American Football novices understand the game better.
He said: “The British love their sports, but to understand your sports, you’ve got to know the rules, and Samsung has got some data together that shows over 60% of the public is struggling with knowing the rules.
“That’s why we started the NFL Jargon Buster playbook, so we can give them some of the terminology so they can try to follow along.
“Sometimes the words and terminology will kind of just throw you off, so being able to understand what it all means will allow you to [get into it].
“It’s just like learning a new language. You’ve just got to build on each word at a time, and the next thing you know, you’re speaking fluently.”
Nadine Coyle appeared on I’m A Celeb Summing up the game for new fans, he continued: “For the main rules, you just have to think that the team’s got four tries to move the ball 10 yards, and that’s, in essence, what you’re trying to do. It’s as simple as that.
“Watch the quarterback – that’s the key. Everything starts and ends with them, and really just move on from there. But keep watching and be patient with yourself.
“And then I would say, keep my Jargon Buster playbook right in front of you, in case something pops up. So, then you can say, ‘Oh, I know exactly what that means!’
“But now is the time to really get involved, because this is when good football is starting to be played,” he encouraged.
Jason also identified his top two teams: legacy champions Kansas City Chiefs, and the Detroit Lions, who he described as “the underdogs”.
