GB News presenter Patrick Christys has pulled out of his 9pm show at the last minute and confirmed that Ben Leo will replace him.

The 32-year-old, from Cheshire, explained that other commitments mean he has to travel to the north of the country and will be unable to film the show.

He confirmed that he will be back on screens on Friday.

He wrote on X/Twitter on Thursday afternoon (December 19): “Hi everyone, just a little note from me to say unfortunately I won’t be hosting 9-11pm @GBNEWS tonight – I’ve had to nip back up north to help out with something.

“I think the great Ben Leo is covering so please do tune in, he’ll have a brilliant show for you. See you tomorrow!”

Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster

The news comes amid a major shake-up for GB News. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Breakfast host Isabel Webster and Mark Dolan had been axed, while politician Jacob Rees Mogg had his hours cut.

The former Tory Business Secretary had presented State of the Nation four days a week but will now only host on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Following Isabel’s departure, Eamonn Holmes will co-host the Breakfast show with Ellie Costello and Ben Leo will fill Mark Dolan’s Saturday and Sunday evening slots.

After Patrick announced that he wouldn’t be presenting tonight, many fans took to the comments to share their fears that he was also a victim of the shake-up.

One user wrote: “They haven’t sacked you too?” And another echoed: “You had me worried there mate! I thought GB News had ditched you as well…phew!”

A third said: “Patrick, hope all is well. Also, hope you aren’t being let go. Stay safe.”

In a statement, GB News said changes to the presenting line-up were part of “initiatives to build on success with a renewed focus and ambition”.

Ben Briscoe, Head Of Programming and Talent, said: “2024 has been a truly fantastic year for us. Not only are we regularly beating the other established news channels, but we are also making inroads against the big public service broadcaster terrestrial channels. Our initiatives will allow us to build on this success with a renewed focus and ambition.”
