While the NBA market has been open since the beginning of July, the Lakers have recruited absolutely no one to try to improve the quality of their squad.
A choice assumed by the front office, and the owner, Jeanie Buss. The latter spoke on the subject.
While the contenders for the ring have all experienced several changes in their roster, whether we are talking about the Clippers, the Nuggets, the Thunder or the Mavericks, the Lakers have not changed much in their squad.
Two arrivals via the draft with Dalton Knecht and Bronny James… and that’s it. Rob Pelinka tried to recruit other players, like Klay Thompson, but without success.
Are the Lakers sufficiently equipped for the title?
This is worrying for a franchise that dreams of winning the title and yet, serenity is real on the side of the organization.
Owner Jeanie Buss believes the Angelenos have what it takes to win the NBA title.
She’s looking forward to seeing JJ Redick back in action as coach, and believes that will be enough for the future.

Jeanie Buss on the Lakers’ summer: “I’m excited about our new coach, JJ Redick.
I can tell you he’s going to be great from a basketball standpoint, but I really want this team to have a chance to play basketball.
We’re excited about our draft picks, with Dalton Knecht, because we really didn’t think he was going to be available at 17th.”
“And then of course there’s Bronny James, who got to play at USC. We’re really confident about our young players.”
Except that these young players won’t be very important in the title race, at least not this year.
If the Angelenos really dream of a ring, the arrival of a major player seems desirable.
The reaction of some fans to this statement speaks volumes.
Despite a quiet and worrying summer, the Lakers owner does not seem really worried about the upcoming season.
Not enough to reassure the fans, many of whom think that the Angelinos are going to have a disastrous campaign today.
