Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid shared an update with her followers after taking an extended break from the ITV programme.
Susanna Reid will be returning to Good Morning Britain on Monday
Susanna Reid made a Good Morning Britain announcement following her lengthy absence from the show.
In early December, the 54-year-old presenter thanked fans before sharing that she would be taking an extended break over the festive period.
After three weeks off, Susanna has now revealed she will be back on screens this Monday. On Instagram, the broadcaster posted an image of a lit candle alongside the caption: “Happy New Year! See you on Monday.”
Stepping in for Susanna was Kate Garraway, who hosted the show with Richard Madeley.
However, fans were less than pleased with Susanna’s absence and the pairing of Kate, 57, and Richard, 68, as they flocked to social media to complain.
Writing on X, one said: “Not coming up on GMB, Susanna Reid. Paid a salary of £1,100,000 to host this dross three mornings a week. But not for the next three weeks obviously.”
Susanna hosted the Christmas special with Kate Garraway and Ed Balls
“Susanna worked on Sunday’s show yesterday and now has to take 3 weeks off!,” a second complained as another penned: “Susanna on her Christmas break already.”
Slamming the pairing of Richard and Kate, a fourth brutally added: “GMB who the f*** makes the decision to pair up the 2 most hated presenters in TV?”
Announcing her break, Susanna shared: “Ending on a positive note, our amazing 1 Million Minutes campaign – I just want to say thank you to everybody who has pledged their minutes to the campaign.
“We have a special programme on Christmas Day but this is my last chance to say thank you to you before Christmas because it is my last programme before Christmas Day.”
Signing off the show, she added: “Good Morning Britain back tomorrow from 6am. Have a happy Christmas from me, I’ll see you on Christmas Day.”
The trio enjoyed a hug on air during the festive episode
Susanna fronted Good Morning Britain’s festive special with Kate and Ed Balls on Christmas Day. During the episode, the three presenters shared a hug live on air in a moment which Ed said made his year.
Susanna quipped: “All your Christmases have come at once! Yes, let’s do it” as Ed gushed: “Oh my Gosh, it’s a miracle.”
The presenter continued: “Come on, we started the programme, wondering whether it might ever happen so here we go.” T
The group then rose from their desks and enjoyed a sweet group hug on the show as they shouted: “Happy, happy Christmas.”
Kate couldn’t help but note: “That’s a moment for us all” as Ed admitted: “You’ve made my year. How many times have you said you’d do that?”
It was at this point that Kate warned the former politician: “Don’t think of it in 2025 though, it’s a one-off for Christmas.”
