The professional dancer was delighted when Mark and Rina made the trip from Australia to watch her perform live in the BBC One dance contest in person for the first time since she joined the hit programme back in 2017.
Dianne and her celebrity dance partner had the goal of making it through to week 11 of Strictly’s 2024 series, the week after the annual Blackpool special, as that’s when Dianne’s parents would be in the UK.
However, they surpassed their goal and their own expectations as they ended up making it to the end of the competition where the comedian, who was Strictly’s first-ever blind contestant and the dancer were eventually crowned Strictly’s latest champions at the end of the 2024 series following the glittering grand final.
They beat fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the famous Glitterball trophy, which Chris described in the aftermath as “astonishing”.
Now, as 2024 came to an end, Dianne has reflected on the past 12 months, which started with her taking on the Strictly Come Dancing Live 2024 tour with 2023 partner Bobby Brazier before ending the year lifting the Glitterball on the main show with Chris and spending the festive season with her family in the UK as they visited from Australia.
Alongside the post, Dianne wrote: “Some 2024 memories. Thank you to every single person I crossed along the way. Sending love health and happiness to you all for the new year ahead.” Tess Daly was among those to quickly respond to the post, writing: “You are such a precious soul love you to bits.”

But she did ring in 2025 without her parents as she revealed they’d headed off on a trip to Europe, leaving her and her siblings, as well as nieces and nephews, back to celebrate in the UK after they also headed over from Australia for the festive season. Sharing a picture of her on FaceTime to her dad Mark, Dianne wrote on her Instagram Story: “New year call to mum and dad who are in Italy at the moment! I miss them.”
It came after Dianne melted fans’ hearts by sharing videos of her boyfriend Joe Sugg doting on the youngest members of her family. He was seen with her baby nephew in his arms as he walked around their living room, with Dianne commenting: “Baby sitting and uncle toe toe got him to sleep.” Alongside another picture of them out for dinner, Dianne shared: He’s literally the baby whisperer.”
