Gavin and Stacey fans were left with a gleeful surprise as “A Fond Farewell”, an hour-long special, unveiled unseen footage that shed light on the long-standing joke from the sitcom featuring Uncle Bryn’s and Jason’s fishing trip. Celebrity admirers like Minnie Driver, Richard Curtis, and Lena Dunham joined in to express their adoration for the show as stars like James Corden and Ruth Jones shared musings on their 18-year adventure since its inception in 2007.

The episode took a surprising turn during the end credits, thrilling viewers with camcorder-style footage of Rob Brydon (Bryn) and Rob Wilfort (Jason), both in period-accurate gear, embarking on the fabled fishing trip. Dave Coaches, played by Steffan Rhodri, remains the sole keeper of this enigmatic story which has consistently been interrupted whenever brought up in the show, much to the curiosity of fans.

The clip ends with Bryn exclaiming effusively: “Who do we have here? ” swiftly followed by a shot of Jason holding up a fish and Bryn can be heard declaring excitedly: “No one will go hungry in this camp tonight.”
