ITV This Morning chaos as Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley face schedule change live on air

Presenting duo Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were left in a panic on ITV’s Thir Morning as they were forced to change the rules on the game show last minute

Chaos ensued on This Morning when hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were forced into a sudden schedule shake-up. The pair found themselves scrambling live on air due to a last-minute decision by ITV bosses to shift the beloved Spin To Win game to an earlier slot on Thursday (January 23).

The segment, which usually features around midday, was unexpectedly moved prior to 11am, catching hopeful contestants off-guard as they weren’t ready for the early calls resulting in an increasingly tense situation.

As is protocol, Cat and Ben began dialling entrants hoping to snag a prize, with the catch being to answer within six rings and recite a passphrase. Things went awry by the third call, prompting Ben to exclaim: “It’s because we’ve changed the time, they aren’t expecting our call.”

On to the fourth attempt, it seemed promising as a caller answered promptly but botched it by greeting with a simple “Hello,” flouting the crucial passphrase rule.

Tension visibly mounted for the duo as they pondered what to do if all potential players fell through, prompting them to seek guidance from producers by querying, “How many have we got left?” reports the Manchester Evening News.

Cat and Ben were on tenterhooks when they realised there were only six potential contestants left for their game, with just two calls remaining to find a participant. Their hopes dwindled as the fifth call went unanswered.

With one last chance, the duo tensely listened to the phone rings, soon facing the reality that no caller would be available for the live game, an unprecedented situation since they replaced Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

Under pressure and seeking direction from show bosses, Cat received a notification through her earpiece. She then informed the audience, “It’s a rollover,” while Ben hopped behind the wheel to give it an enthusiastic spin.

In a twist of fate, this means Friday’s contestant will have the opportunity to bag double prizes in the game.
