Team USA demonstrated why they are recognized as the most successful team in international competition. The American men’s basketball team displayed incredible talent on the court, resulting in another gold medal for the country at the Olympics.

Despite widespread praise from American basketball fans following their impressive 98-87 victory against France, one American athlete at the Olympics expressed dissatisfaction with Team USA’s success. Noah Lyles, an American track and field athlete, recently posted a taunting message about Anthony Edwards on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“There is a rumor going around that I did not go to @theantedwards_ shoe release because he didn’t deserve it. That is not the case he definitely deserves his shoes he is an amazing player. The problem was finding time based on my prior engagements. Congratulations on Becoming an Olympic champion!” Lyles wrote in his latest post on X.

In the post, the sprinter, who was recently criticized by his fans, referred to Edwards as an Olympic champion rather than a world champion, sparking heavy criticism from Team USA supporters. Fans did not hold back their disapproval and criticized Lyles in the comments section of the post.

One fan said, “Bro snuck in “Olympic champion” to clarify they weren’t world champs.”

Meanwhile, another fan mentioned, “People are just still stuck on the “World Champion of the United States” drama.”

Another fan reacted, “Why do people keep pointing out Olympic champ as if ant isn’t an Olympic champ…”

Another fan said, “Bringing another man down to prove a point ain’t it.”

The Beginning of Lyles and the USA Basketball Controversy

The drama began when Lyles criticized NBA teams for calling themselves world champions after winning the NBA league, which consists of 30 teams, 29 of which are American.

In response to Lyles’ criticism, USA Basketball recently taunted him by posting on X with the caption “Are we world champions now?” This sparked controversy.

By calling Anthony Edwards the Olympic champion, Lyles further ignited the controversy. It will be fascinating to see how far this will go.
