Alison Hammond wowed fans as she revealed an impressive singing voice on the first episode of rebooted game show You Bet! – and was jokingly accused of ‘losing on purpose’ as she appeared on the Saturday night show. The Brummie TV star, who fronts shows including This Morning and The Great British Bake Off, was playing for a chance to win £10,000 for her own charity alongside Rob Beckett, Harry Redknapp and Rosie Ramsay.

Each episode, like the original show’s format, sees a panel of celebrities and the studio audience predict if each challenger can complete the extraordinary challenges they are set. At the end of the ITV show, the studio audience vote for their favourite challenger who takes home a whopping £10,000, and the winning celeb takes home the same for their chosen charity.

The celebrity with the lowest score takes on the entertaining final forfeit. And it was Alison who was the losing celebrity of the night, with her being forced to perform completely unrehearsed with the cast of the Tina Turner stage musical.

Alison amazed viewers as she gave a powerful performance and belted out Rolling On A River in a gold sparkly dress. But viewers were convinced she had lost the show on purpose to get the chance to perform with the cast as she was so good.

One wrote on X: ” Alison Hammond lost on purpose. She’s been practicing this since she was five.” A second said: “#youbet Alison accidentally losing to get the Tina Turner spot.”

A third agreed: “ALISON HANDS DOWN LOST ON PURPOSE. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY LIVING HER TINA FANTASY,” adding a series of laughing emoticons.

“Petition for Alison Hammond to join the cast of @TinaTheMusical,” another fan commented.

Many may remember that the show began with the legendary Bruce Forsyth in 1988, who presented it until 1990. Then former Stars in Their Eyes host Matthew Kelly took over in 1991, followed by Darren Day from 1996 to 1997.
