BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Shirley Ballas has slammed fans over a “childish” backlash. The BBC head judge Shirley, who is a judge alongside Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton du Beke, has slammed “childish” claims the show is fixed.
Strictly Come Dancing star Shirley fumed: “The show’s been on over 20 years. The public vote makes a difference.” Shirley went on: “You the public can vote to save your favourites. It gets childish to blame the judges.”
She said: “The show has been on over twenty years the public vote makes a difference. You the public can vote to save your favorites. It gets childish to always blame the judges Lucy.” It came after a fan wrote: “So frustrating when the judges can’t mark properly as we then have the wrong people in the dance off & the wrong couple going home.
“Watching the smile fade off Sam’s face after she did well each week was infuriating when her male counterparts had mistakes ignored #strictly.” A Twitter/X user wrote: “Do cannot be doing with listening to people whining! At this stage the competition is really tough. If you don’t vote; don’t expect your favourites to stay in! End of.”
“Dear Shirley, you blatantly admitted during the show that you favoured a contestant irrespective of his mistakes. While being overcritical of Sam. And you all over marked Wynne. It does not go down well with shows fans…” a second wrote.
“But let’s be honest, yous are overmarking people like Wynn since day 1, barely highlighting any mistakes a male celeb makes and then clamp down on the slightest mistake a women eg Sam does so of course it’s gonna be affected and what the judges do taken into consideration,” another fumed.
Another said: “But as head judge you shouldn’t be saying ‘I’ll let that slide’ to certain contestants. It makes there being judges pointless, especially when you have Motsi & Anton being the over markers. You & Craig should keep the scores balanced.”
