GB News: Ellie Costello clash Stephen Dixon over Princess Kate’s outfit
Princess Kate’s choice of outfit for her visit to Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice on Thursday (January 30) was the subject of scrutiny on GB News Breakfast with the presenters disagreeing hugly on the look.
Ellie Costello praised the outfit saying: “I love what she decided to wear. It was so elegant, and it was British High Street.” However co-host Stephen Dixon looked surprised by this asking: “Do you like it?”
“I just think it’s a bit…” he said struggling for words before sports presenter Aidan McGee was heard saying “dowdy” off camera. “Dowdy. Yeah, a little bit,” Stephen agreed.
“She looks absolutely beautiful. She looks really well,” Ellie insisted but Stephen would not be swayed. “It’s not a stunning outfit, is it?” he said.
This led Aidan McGee to once again interject: “It’s because in that picture there, I think she’s got the coat over. I don’t think, I don’t think it necessarily goes with it.”

Stephen conceded he actually liked her coat as Ellie said the dress was from Zara and currently on sale for £15. Although she had praised Kate for wearing a British high street brand, Zara is actually a Spanish company.
“I think it’s more of a practical dress for what she was doing,” Stephen said. “And she she had it was doing hand prints and all sorts with these kids at this children’s hospice where she’s now become patron, following in the footsteps of mother in law, Diana, Princess of Wales.
“And, you know, I don’t care what she wears. It wonderful thing she’s doing there with these children who, you know, don’t have very long lives left.”
Sticking with the fashion theme Ellie told her co-host: “These hoops that she was wearing yesterday – they’re little gold hoops – were from a Welsh jewelry brand. They just going to show the amount of detail she puts into her outfit.”
“Well, yes, someone’s thinking on her behalf I should think,” he responded.

The Princess’ visit to the hospice was a surprise and the 43-year-old mum of three played with seriously ill children and chatted with bereaved families.
She was announced as their new patron during her visit which came as she eases herself back into official duties following her remission from cancer.
The caring princess spent time chatting to the youngsters and their families during a ‘stay and play’ event, getting stuck in with painting, rolling a sparkly ball along the floor and enjoying musical activities.
It marked her second engagement of the week, having decided at the last minute to join her husband at official commemorations marking Holocaust Memorial Day on Monday.
