Good Morning Britain viewers have shared their anger following comments made about darts player Luke Littler, with some branding it ‘fat shaming’

During Thursday’s edition of Good Morning Britain, viewers were left unimpressed by comments made about young darts sensation Luke Littler.

Adil Ray expressed concern for the 17 year old’s lifestyle, saying: “I have to say and this might not be very popular, I’m a little bit worried about Luke. He’s 17 and he’s turning into the look of a darts player.”

Amidst an awkward chuckle from co-host Sean Fletcher, Adil commented on Luke’s dietary choices: “He is though. If I were his mum and dad, I mean, he’s sort of – look at him. He’s admitted he has pizzas before a match and sits there playing computer games. I just think I’m a bit worried.”

Kate Garraway, also hosting, questioned Adil’s concerns despite Luke’s success, to which Adil replied: “I know but he’s going to get more successful and I just worry,” as Kate probed if he was “fretting”, reports the Mirror.

Adil elaborated on his fears for Luke’s health, prompting Kate to humorously suggest delivering a carrot to the player. “See how that goes down,” she quipped.

Adil jested in response: “Just before the final, I’ve brought a nice little salad for you from Pret.”

Kate added that pizza is a common preference among teenagers, yet acknowledged Adil’s point: “But I know what you mean, you’re concerned, I like that.”

Wrapping up the discussion, Adil praised Luke’s talent: “He’s brilliant though, I absolutely love him, he’s great.”

Viewers were quick to express their dismay on Twitter over Adil’s controversial remarks. One angered individual blasted: “Adil trying to fat shame Luke Littler is not the best thing this morning.”

Shock and disapproval continued as another user called for an official review: “@gmb Really, Fat shaming live on morning TV @Ofcom should investigate this shocking behaviour.”

The sentiment was echoed by someone else who added: “Wow @adilray body-shaming like littler on live TV, call to @Ofcom needed @GMB He’s not even that overweight.”

Calls for corrective action intensified with a fan demanding: “@GMB please ditch that Adil Ray! I hope he makes a public apology to Luke Littler after making derogatory comments about him.”
