After numerous Netflix “flops” Meghan Markle has been handed one “last chance” with her new cookery show, says a royal commentator.

The Duchess of Sussex appeared in a new trailer this week for her long-awaited show With Love, Meghan, which is set to hit the screens on January 15.

Meghan was seen smiling in the variety of clips as she cooks and hosts alongside famous celebrity friends.

The trailer dropped just a day after Meghan’s return to Instagram for the first time since her marriage to Prince Harry.

With a string of failed Netflix attempts and efforts to rebrand herself under Meghan’s belt one royal commentator has noted this “super sickly sweet” cookery show must be a hit otherwise it will be “embarrassing” for the Duchess.

Speaking on TalkTv, Lettice Bromovsky, journalist and commentator from MailOnline called the new show “very American” adding that Netflix could cancel their deal with the couple if it fails to be a success.

She said: “It’s super sickly sweet in all the giggling and the laughing. To a more serious point with Meghan on this, this has got to work for her because realistically when you look back at her £100m Netflix deal this is sort of her last attempt.

“All the other things have really quite flopped whether it was the polo Netflix documentary which got very very poor reviews, whether it was her archetypes podcast which was actually cancelled this year.

“There have been so many things that haven’t worked out and if Netflix cancels their deal with them this year, I mean it’s going to be quite embarrassing.

“It’s a last chance.”

Lettice also critiqued Meghan’s “tone deaf” timing of the trailer after the New Year’s Day terror attack in New Orleans where at least 14 people died and some 35 others were injured when the suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, allegedly ploughed a pick-up truck through crowds of New Year’s revellers.

“There will be a lot of people saying the trailer came out at a bit of a tonne deaf moment when America has been going through things with New Orelans and the change in political power and she’s releasing this to show what her perfect, happy life.”
