Good Morning Britain BROUGHT to a halt as HOSTS share urgent ‘BREAKING NEWS’

Good Morning Britain was hit with a breaking news announcement on Friday’s programme (December 6) as the ITV show was taken off air for a live report

Good Morning Britain was all about the drama on Friday (December 6) as they dropped a bombshell warning to their viewers. The ITV morning show was interrupted when hosts Robert Rinder and Kate Garraway had to dish out the latest on the UK’s train chaos.

Reports were flying in about a “nationwide fault” that had thrown National Rail into chaos during the morning rush. Keeping the nation in the loop, GMB host Robert chimed in with: “More details now on the major disruption to the train network.”

Kate piped up too, saying: “Yeah, well our correspondent, Nick Dickson, is at Victoria station to give us an update, Nick is there any more clarity on what’s going on here?” On the scene via video link, Nick dished the dirt, explaining: “There seems to be a problem or some kind of fault with the comms system on board trains, which the drivers use to talk to the signalling stations. It’s causing an awful amount of disruption here at Victoria.”

National Rail has been on it, revealing that the pesky issue under investigation is messing with services across the board.

They’ve pinpointed it to a glitch in the communication system that’s crucial for train drivers and signallers, leading to delays in kicking off journeys. The company announced: “There is a nationwide fault with the communication system used between train drivers and signallers. As a result, services across the National Rail network may be subject to disruption this morning,” reports the Mirror.

National Rail has issued a warning to passengers about widespread train disruptions due to a nationwide glitch in the GSMR radio system, which is crucial for communication between train drivers and signal operators. They stated: “Trains are disrupted on various routes because of a nationwide fault with the onboard GSMR radio system that allows communication between train drivers and signal operators. This issue is currently being investigated.”

They also advised travellers to check their journeys before setting off, adding: “Trains across the network are having to start their journeys later because of this fault, and some may also be subject to cancellations or alterations.

“Please check before you travel. Allow extra time for your journey and monitor live departure boards.”

South Western Railway, one of the affected operators, has cancelled several services today. In a notice to its customers, South Western Railway announced: “We have been informed of a national issue with communication systems affecting service this morning. This means that trains may be delayed before they start their journey.”

They explained the impact on operations: “This is because it is preventing our train drivers from contacting the respective signalling centre this morning, and a reset is having to be performed before the train can start its journey.”
