I’m A Celebrity viewers were left saddened after spotting a major change during this year’s series, with one viewer admitting it’s “sad that it’s finally come to an end”
I’m A Celebrity viewers have spotted a huge change during this year’s series.
Gone are the days when you would pick up your phone and vote to save your favourite celebrity from being evicted from camp, or to choose them for the Bushtucker Trials. That’s because fans are now using the official I’m A Celebrity app to keep them in camp.
And some viewers can’t help but feel a little sad after spotting the voting shake-up during this year’s series of the ITV reality show, which kicked off on Sunday (November 17). Some have declared it “the end of an era” while taking a trip down memory lane.
We’re used to seeing each campmate sport their voting number on the back of their clothing as they mill about camp. But this year marks the first time since the show began in 2002 that you can only vote via the app.

So this year’s King or Queen of the Jungle will be decided via an app, rather than by a premium-rate phone line. One viewer writing on a fan forum dedicated to the show on Reddit flagged the change.
They wrote: “For the first time ever, the campmates no longer have a phone number on the back of their t-shirts! This phone number was used to vote for the campmates to do trials and to save them from elimination, and in the later years (including last year) was used only for eliminations.

“I know it’s outdated now, but it’s still sad that it’s finally come to an end.” Another agreed: “Is it just me who is sad because they don’t have their phone numbers on their shirts anymore #imacelebrity..”
A third wrote: “Is this the first year that camp mates haven’t had their voting phone numbers on their shirts? It truly is another world #imacelebrity”.

This year’s campmates include Strictly star Oti Mabuse, WAG Coleen Rooney, N-Dubz singer Tulisa, TikTok star GK Barry, Corrie star Alan Halsall and McFly rocker Danny Jones.
