Broadcaster Jeremy Vine has come under fire for having a debate about Coleen Rooney in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! as viewers claim he has ‘sexist double standards’
Jeremy Vine has been slammed for his comments about Coleen Rooney’s time in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.
The broadcaster weighed in on the ITV show following its finale on Sunday night. McFly singer and guitarist Danny Jones was crowned King of the Jungle while WAG Coleen came in second place. Ahead of the final, the final six campmates were visited by a close loved one in the Australian jungle.
Coleen, who is married to football icon Wayne Rooney, tried to hold back her tears was surprised by their two youngest sons and her mum Colette. They shared an emotional reunion in camp as Kit, eight, and Cass, six, hugged their famous mum. Coleen wasted no time at all giving her mum and two boys a tour of the camp but before too long it was time for them to leave again.
Giving them an emotional hug goodbye she told the boys it was only a couple more days and then it would be the countdown to Christmas. Winner Danny Jones also had an emotional reunion with his wife Georgia and their little boy Cooper, six, as part of the family visits.

Following the final of the ITV show, TV and radio presenter Jeremy Vine gave his verdict on the series. However, he was slammed for having ‘sexist double standards’. During his Channel 5 programme, the Jeremy Vine Show, he decided to open a debate on if it was right for Coleen to let her sons skip school to head out to Australia yet didn’t include Danny, who did the same thing.
Political commentator Suzy Stride, who was a guest on the show, replied: “This story annoyed me so much. What does this show? It shows that she’s a mum that loved her kids, missed her kids. It shows that she’s human and wanted to see them.” Viewer Shelley from Newcastle argued Coleen’s mum had been doing school work with the boys while away, before calling out the sexism of the argument.

She asked: “Why is nobody criticising Danny who won? His six-year-old was out of school and in the jungle. I’m not hearing criticism for him! It’s all on Coleen. I don’t see what the problem is. Plenty of other people had their kids taken out and there’s not been a criticism. It just seems to be because it’s Coleen Rooney and everybody is having a pile in because it’s her.”
Jeremy appeared to defend the debate as he said it didn’t matter only Coleen was receiving backlash and that children shouldn’t be taken out of school. He posted the clip to X, which sparked further backlash. One said: “Danny Jones did the exact same thing but OF COURSE only the woman / mother is judged.”
Another added: “Jeremy Vine the Colleen full on hater…!! What about others in the jungle that done the same thing ??” Someone else commented: “I see your baiting isn’t working. You are actually gutted the public are not outraged at Coleen, who incidentally might not even have been the one who made the decision. Now start on Danny’s wife for bringing their boy.” A fourth fumed: “And Danny Jones’ son, or is it just Coleen Rooney you’re discussing?!!! Would you ask the same question of a man?”
