“Pep Guardiola Loses His Cool: Bold Remarks on Liverpool Fans Post-Match”
Someone needs to give Pep Guardiola a break from post-match press conferences.
The Manchester City boss seemed to carry his frustration from the Feyenoord game into his team’s 2-0 defeat against Liverpool in the Premier League. Before the final whistle, Guardiola was seen responding to a cheeky chant from the home crowd, reminding them of his contributions to English football.
His post-match remarks about Liverpool fans further suggested that the Anfield faithful had well and truly gotten under his skin.
Guardiola expressed his frustration with the chants from the Liverpool supporters as they closed in on a crucial 2-0 victory over City.
“All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton! Maybe they are right with the results we’ve been having,” Guardiola told reporters (via BBC Sport).
“I didn’t expect that at Anfield. They didn’t do it at 1-0, but at 2-0. Maybe they should have sung it in the past. I didn’t expect it from the people from Liverpool but it’s fine, it’s part of the game, and I understand completely. We’ve had incredible battles together. I have respect for them.”
Come on, Pep… it’s all in good fun! No one seriously believes your job is in jeopardy after securing 18 trophies with Manchester City.
But let’s not overshadow what was an outstanding performance from Arne Slot’s side, as the title race increasingly tilts in favor of our unstoppable Reds.
After winning four consecutive titles in Manchester’s blue half, a shift at the top by the end of the 2024/25 campaign would certainly be a welcome change!
