Cat Deeley has reportedly failed to win over This Morning viewers since she took over the ITV show earlier this year, with Amanda Holden tipped to replace her

Amanda Holden is reportedly in the running to take on This Morning.

Woman’s Own magazine claimed viewers “haven’t taken” to current host Cat Deeley since she started presenting the chat show back in March. The ITV show’s ratings have reportedly taken a nosedive, with one episode dipping below 700,000 viewers.

Cat, who’s been co-hosting with Ben Shephard, admitted to not having given it much thought. The pair stepped into the shoes of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who exited the show in 2023 after Schofield got caught up in a scandal he described as an “unwise but not illegal” affair.

Since then, Cat and Ben have faced their fair share of scrutiny, with Cat recounting to the Sunday Times how even a joke from Ben could be misconstrued as him ‘snapping at her’.

Back in May, ITV hit back at the chatter about plummeting ratings, insisting that the show “has never had a better connection with viewers”. Meanwhile Amanda Holden, a familiar face on This Morning who covered for Holly during her maternity leave and popped up on the show from 2014 to 2019, could potentially take over, reports the Express.

TV has yet to remark on the situation.

A fierce feud erupted between Amanda Holden and Phillip Schofield, with Phil telling Heat magazine she kept him on his “toes” with a “faulty edit button”, calling it “endearing” but occasionally “occasionally quite scary”. While Amanda was tipped to fill in for Holly on This Morning, claims surfaced in the Mirror that she lost out due to Phil’s intervention.

Back in 2017 while speaking to Huffington Post Amanda expressed a keen interest in the gig: “I loved every minute. Holly is incredible but if she ever does finally hang up her stilettos, that’s the job I’d really want to be considered for.”

In a candid chat with Grazia Magazine, she admitted she would “walk away” from anything that made her miserable at work, stressing the importance of enjoying her role.
