The mum of Iâm A Celebrity star Dean McCullough has touched down in Brisbane, Australia, to support her son as he competes in the jungle series.
However, her mission isnât just to cheer him on â sheâs planning to have a âwee wordâ with co-host Ant McPartlin over what she perceives as âhardâ treatment of Dean during the showâs Bushtucker trials.

Now, Deanâs mum Ann has defended her son, whose screams and dramatic reactions during trials have prompted teasing from Ant and Dec.
âWe are seeing the real Dean, he is just being himself,â she told The Mirror. âHe just gets on with it. And thatâs what I said to him: âHave fun and be yourself.’â
Ant, in particular, has expressed frustration with Dean during the trials. Ant even admitted letting his âannoyanceâ come out on screen, which he called âunprofessionalâ.
Ann has now addressed Antâs comments.
âI think Antâs been a wee bit hard on him,â she said. âIâm going to have to have a wee word with Ant about that, maybe later. He has been game for anything. Heâs just been himself, and weâre all so, so proud.â

While Dean has tackled six trials so far, his mother admitted that seeing him repeatedly voted to face the challenges has been difficult.
âItâs been awful. Every time he has been picked again, itâs been âoh my God.â Do you know what, heâs a team player, he loves it and does his best,â she said.
Ann said she believes Deanâs charm and humour are part of why viewers keep voting for him.
Last week, Ant addressed becoming annoyed with Dean after he quit a Bushtucker trial halfway through.
Ant said on spin-off show Unpacked: âMy annoyance came across on screen and I was quite unprofessional and Iâm not happy about it.â
