Fans have been speculating about tension between GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley.

The presenters frequently talk over each other, with many viewers now claiming Kate appeared visibly annoyed this week. Eagle-eyed viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One user penned: “Well done Richard on remaining calm when Kate talked over him a couple of times there.” Whilst another added: “Kate really does get irritated by Richard. So obvious.” A third wrote: “How many times can Kate cut Richard off in mid sentence? He starts to speak, she interrupts him.” But a fourth person disagreed that there’s a feud, saying: “Richard has a calming influence on Kate, it’s lovely.”

This isn’t the first time fans accused the GMB stars of having a feud. Earlier this year, fans accused Richard of “interrupting” an emotional Kate as she spoke about her late husband Derek Draper in a candid live interview.

Kate appeared on TV tearfully in February, returning to the ITV breakfast show to talk about the loss of her husband. Derek, a former political lobbyist, had been struggling with long-term complications after contracting COVID-19 in 2020. While he had been slowly recovering, he tragically suffered a heart attack late last year and passed away in January.

Determined to be open about her grief, Kate shared her story with Susanna Reid, 53, and Richard, 67, from her home in London. She spoke about her brave 17-year-old daughter, Darcey, who not only helped carry her dad’s coffin but also gave a eulogy. Richard then joined the conversation.

“Those who will be facing the worst today I am thinking of them really, because I know how they feel…” Kate said. Veteran host Richard could be heard interjecting: “Kate I wanted …” before she said: “….sorry, I interrupted you.” Richard, waving his hands to try and signal an apology, responded: “No, I interrupted you, on a live link.”

Some were quick to have a go at the broadcaster and took to twitter to pull him up. One wrote: “Richard Madeley interrupting and talking over a lady describing burying her husband. Unbearable little man.” Another said: “Once again Richard keeps interrupting. Let Kate talk.”

Last year, Richard was forced to apologize on Good Morning Britain after Kate sharply shut him down when he appeared to interrupt her. They were discussing Ryanair’s boarding pass charges and how some customers are unaware of the added cost if the pass isn’t printed before flying.

Trying to make sense of the situation, Kate attempted to read a statement from the airline to viewers at home. But while reading, Richard tried to interject which led Kate to shut him down. Richard said: “Who checks terms and conditions on a flight,” before saying, “I can only think…”

But Kate swiftly stopped him in his tracks and said: “Can I just finish the sentence?” Richard quickly apologised by saying “sorry”, but the frosty interaction didn’t go unnoticed by fans at home. One said: “Someone give Madeley the hook. Constantly interrupting everyone. I think Kate Garraway will let rip soon.”
