BBC Breakfast viewers were left perplexed this morning after viewers noticed an unusual sight in the studio.
Most people watching were focused on the news, but some eagle-eyed viewers noticed a banana peel casually left on the floor.
The show was hosted by Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst who paid no attention to the casually discarded item, but the fruit skin quickly became the star of the show on social media.
One amused viewer took to Twitter, jokingly asking: “Banana for scale?”
Meanwhile, another shared their dismay on Facebook, scolding the team: “BBC Breakfast TV messy sods! Is that a banana on the floor?”

The sight of the peel also inspired some light-hearted puns from viewers.
A cheeky Facebook user giggled: “Well, that’s a bit of a slip-up.”

Neither Jon Kay nor Nina Warhurst addressed the rogue banana peel during the broadcast, leaving fans to wonder how it ended up on the floor of the usually pristine studio.
This comes after Nina apologised to Jon for being a bad friend live on air recently.
He was discussing his time on Celebrity Mastermind when his co-star admitted she didn’t watch the episode he was featured in.

She tried to make up for her mistake by complimenting him, saying: “I think you’re really brave to do it! I take my hat off to you.”
Jon joked that he would make her watch it, but seemed otherwise unbothered by her admission.
He revealed that he thought Nina herself had participated in Mastermind, calling it a “rite of passage” for BBC Breakfast presenters, but she told him her mind would go blank as soon as the questions started.
Jon was having none of it, and warned her: “I’m giving Clive your number!”
Viewers who had watched Jon’s segment on Celebrity Mastermind pointed out that he had featured on the show alongside someone very closely tied to his specialist subject.
He chose to be quizzed on 1980s comedy series The Young Ones. Adrian Edmonson starred in the sitcom, and as it turns out, his daughter Beattie was up against Jon on that very episode of Mastermind.
